The San Marcos Cultural Center in Toledo is hosting the exhibition 'Felipe II – The Ingenuities and Machines' until November 30, developed by CEDEX-CEHOPU and the Juanelo Turriano Foundation.

About the exhibition
In the second half of the 16th century, coinciding with the reign of Philip II, there was a boost in the execution of large public works projects. The exhibition addresses all facets concerning the training of the architects responsible for these projects, the processes prior to the start of the works and their financing, as well as the technical and administrative organization of the works.
After the organizational aspects, the improvements of specific aspects are studied: the road network, the construction of bridges, the attempts to establish a network of navigation channels, the undertaking of port works and the construction of structures, docks and docks , the construction of large hydraulic works, the irrigation of vacant lands, the connection of pipelines, canals and irrigation ditches, dams and weirs, aqueducts and siphons, the supply of water to cities with the use of canals or qanats or the installation in operation of mechanisms to raise water like the famous mill erected in Toledo by the watchmaker Juanelo Turriano.
